Welcome Capt. Sean MacKenzie

Municipality of Anchorage representative Capt. Sean MacKenzie and CIRCAC Director of Science and Research Susan Saupe

Capt. Sean MacKenzie was appointed to a full term representing the Municipality of Anchorage at our April meeting. He had served a partial term following the resignation of Hans Rodvik in 2024. Capt. MacKenzie currently serves as the Emergency Programs Manager for the Municipality’s Office of Emergency Management. He is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, previously serving as Sector Commander, Sector Anchorage (now Western Alaska and US Arctic). His full term extends until 2028 and we are happy to have Capt. MacKenzie and his extensive experience on the CIRCAC Board of Directors.

Prior to his post in Anchorage from 2017-2020, he was assigned as the Coast Guard liaison to the European Union and NATO in Brussels, Belgium. From June 2013 to June 2015, MacKenzie served as deputy commander of Coast Guard Sector Columbia River, where he was responsible for Coast Guard operations in the state of Oregon, the southern half of Washington and most of Idaho. Other assignments included serving as executive officer of the Coast Guard Cutter Jarvis, European Command in Stuttgart, Germany, and attending the Air Force War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.
