Council meets in Seldovia

The Cook Inlet Regional Citizens Advisory Council met in Seldovia on September 9th. This was our first in-person meeting since 2019 and, between weather issues and then the COVID-19 pandemic, our first trip to Seldovia since 2016.

The Council heard presentations from Hilcorp, Marathon Petroleum and the U.S. Coast Guard. USCG Capt. Leanne Lusk highlighted a number of response efforts throughout the summer, including continued to response to a legacy incident near Kodiak that’s been monitored since 1989. David Duffy from Hilcorp’s Land Department told the Council about plans for its production platforms for the study of tidal energy potential in Cook Inlet. Marathon Petroleum Vice President of Marine Operations Marc Bayer reported on new investments in response vessels in Cook Inlet.

We thank the City of Seldovia and the Seldovia Village Tribe for hosting us, and we look forward to making it back in 2025.

Our next Council meeting is schedule for December 1st and 2nd in Anchorage.
