CIRCAC was saddened to learn that longtime Council member Paul Shadura passed away on July 7th at the age of 69.

In more than two decades of service to the organization, Paul brought a wealth of experience and insight to the Council.

“I have known Paul for more than 30 years and served with him in several organizations,” said CIRCAC Board President Gary Fandrei. “He truly wanted to help the community he represented and was always prepared when he participated in a meeting. I will remember him for a long time.”

Paul was a third-generation Commercial fisherman and participated in a number of fisheries in various capacities.

He volunteered with a number of other organizations, including the United Fishermen of Alaska, Kenai Peninsula Fishermen’s Association, and the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association.

First elected to the CIRCAC Board of Directors in 1997, Paul first represented the Aquaculture Associations. For the past 21 years, he represented our Commercial Fishing stakeholder groups. Paul also served on the Prevention, Response, Operations, and Safety (PROPS), Environmental Monitoring and Protocol Control Committees.

We send our most sincere condolences to Paul’s family and thank him for his many years of dedicated service to the Council.
